WONDERFUL...! However, it seems this Utah effort is more than 10 years behind the same kind of project in California! Check out the web site for: California Pioneer Heritage Foundation, and the Sacramento area Sierra Nevada Mormon Pioneers -- a group that takes part in about 40 events a year. In fact this weekend [24 & 25 Jan 2014] there are two large LDS related history events taking place: Friday, 24th - 165th Annv. of the discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill, Coloma CA. And on Saturday, in Old Town San Diego, 12 Stakes will mark the arrival of the Mormon Battalion 166 years ago and dedicate Fort Stockton. Get and watch the video "More Precious Than Gold" to learn more about the important Church history that took place before the Saints got to the Salt Lake! Almost 600 Saints were in Alta California prior to the discovery of gold on 24 January 1848 at the saw mill former Mormon Battalion boys built. It is time for all of western Church history to be told and reenacted for our members, and the public!
