Natasha, thank you for the well-meaning thoughts, and the prayers you offer. Neil, your concerns are useful, albeit a bit pointed. There is no doubt that you both desire to be kind and caring. Our family joins in the shared sorrow over the loss of Elder Lamping. May his family ever receive the comfort of the Spirit they so deeply need in all they are coping with, even as Elder Lamping again faithfully answers yet another call to a new realm of service.

Natasha, wouldn't it be better to diagnose the problem before prescribing? (Ever wondered why the 'natural therapy' enthusiasts suffer a credibility problem?)
If a congenital heart condition is discovered, a vitamin/mineral supplement would not be the cure.
Presumably unintended, the subtle suggestion that if the parents of this deceased missionary had been more 'responsible' and more informed by giving their son a (cure all) vitamin/mineral supplement, that he would still be alive is insensitive at best and irresponsible at worst.
The only focus right now is compassion and prayers for the family and friends of this young missionary who has passed in his prime on the eve of his missionary service.

Sadly such sudden deaths are often the result of heart failure due to selenium deficiency common among young athletes. As a fellow missionary mom my prayers are with this family and I urge all parents to make sure your children take a multi mineral supplement whether on a mission or not.
