Lizzie Girl, Every time someone tells me that something I've written or said has helped them, I feel lifted as well. Thank you so much for sharing and making my day! God bless you as you face your challenges and find new strength.

Thank you for this article! I remember hearing these words of Brigham Young when as a young girl I visited the Beehive House in Salt Lake City: "My experience has taught me,” said President Brigham Young, “and it has become a principle with me, that it is never any benefit to give, out and out, to man or woman, money, food, clothing, or anything else, if they are able-bodied, and can work and earn what they need, … This is my principle and I try to act upon it. To pursue a contrary course would ruin any community in the world and make them idlers.” (Discourses of Brigham Young, 1925 edition, p. 422.) Marion G. Romney, October 1973 General Conference, "Church Welfare—Some Fundamentals."

Thanks Mary for your kindness in naming Rising Star Outreach as your charity for Smile.Amaon. I know that .5% doesn't seem like much, but it all adds up! Best thing about it, is it doesn't actually cost you anything. If hundreds of people joined in, it would be so surprising how those small amounts all come together to make good things happen! Thanks for taking the time to sign up!

It made me happy to read this. I use "smileAmazon" (same as Amazon, just start with the word "smile"). You can pick just about any charity you want. Then a percentage of what you spend goes to that charity. The one I chose was Rising Star. I did so because of another article I read about it in Meridian magazine. No, I will never get to India, but I am so happy that I can help in some way.

Beautiful story and powerful truth. I see this is addiction recovery as well.

Wow! The timing of this piece is perfect for me, and the truth of it rings clear. My "leprosy" is the mental sort. I've got some tools that work but I've been discouraged and idle about applying them.

Wow, what a universally applicable principle! Thank you for sharing.
