OH how I needed this today! My grown-up daughter and her family of 4 children have just found out the husband/father's job is transferring them the length of 2 full states away. I am so sad for this loss of their presence so near me. They have been here by me for 18 years, through the births and raising of their children. I am finding this is very hard on me. I am now the aging parent but it is not getting easier.

Beautifully said, Lynne. This brought so many memories to me (and tears) as I thought of our children leaving the nest one by one, sometimes temporarily and then as they married and left with a spouse. It is always a joy when they return for visits to the next with their little ones. The cycle of life. You have expressed so well the feelings of a mom, as you do so often. You have a beautiful talent and a beautiful family. Brad got the best when he got you and we love you!

This is a beautiful and inspired piece of music! It puts into words the feelings I've experienced as my children have left home. So many times my mother's heart aches, as I watch them continue their sometimes difficult journey, without my ability to help fix the much simpler problems of their childhood. I know it's all a part of the plan, but their leaving has left empty places in my heart and home...Thank you again for putting the "empty nest" into words and music...

Thank you for so beautifully articulating the feelings of a mother-heart. So grateful to be a mother of incredible children who bless my life.

You have expressed so perfectly what I felt as you left our nest:-) This is one of my two favorite songs you have written, the other one being "Keeping Sheep". How I love what you have become since you left the nest. And now you keep returning to help your aging parents.

Once again you have expressed with such tender clarity the feelings of a righteous mother! I can't help believing that our eternal Mother (and Father) holds similar feelings toward all of us. Many thanks for sharing your insight and talents with us!
