This was a wonderful story! I believe God did help this family come to the US. The lottery to get in to the US is not a gambling lottery. This lottery is a law designed to help people from underrepresented countries get in to the US. So if not many people from your country come to the US, you can apply to be in the lottery. There are a certain number of extra green cards set aside for people from these countries. This is not a game of chance as referred to in the LDS Handbook.

I think the Lord works in many mysterious ways...He helps us in many ways to get us where we need to be. So, it really wasn't a lottery for him! What a great and faithful story.

This a great story. Many thanks for sharing. But I have one concern. No doubt the Lord granted you blessings in finding the LDS church. But for me I do not think God had a hand in winning the lottery. This is because gambling in all its forms, including lotteries sponsored by governments, is not approved of God. There are many Prophetic Teachings on this subject. You can also see more of it in the Church Handbook of Instruction. Anyways, this is what I personally think. Thanks again for sharing.
