I wish you would have given some actual conversation ideas -- to not bring on more argumentative stances. The only thing I can think of is, "Okay......Okay......Okay.

Great article, however, loving someone does not mean you must engage in a political conversation with them. It's my home and I expect the people in it to respect a gentle request that there will be no political discussion. The fact that someone would actually argue about whether you will discuss politics in your home is a surefire sign that if the conversation were to take place, they are not going to be respectful. We live in a day when shades of gray have become very black and white in politics. There is no way to "discuss" issues such as abortion, socialism, or attempts to destroy the basic principles of the constitution, with people who have closed their minds. Better to talk about a multitude of other topics available for discussion that will not engender contention.
