The Word of Wisdom is a law of health for the physical and spiritual benefit of God’s children. It includes instruction about what foods are good for us and those substances to avoid. Over time, Church leaders have provided additional instruction on those things that are encouraged or forbidden by the Word of Wisdom, and have taught that substances that are destructive, habit-forming or addictive should be avoided.
In recent publications for Church members, Church leaders have clarified that several substances are prohibited by the Word of Wisdom, including vaping or e-cigarettes, green tea, and coffee-based products. They also have cautioned that substances such as marijuana and opioids should be used only for medicinal purposes as prescribed by a competent physician.

What are your thoughts on coffee flavored ice cream or candies?

I raised three sons with life-threatening asthma (my oldest was hospitalized 19 times before he was 17), and have spent many hours---days, weeks---in hospitals. It's miserably hard on everyone, especially the one directly affected by it. I've also conducted the Lords' program on Addiction and Healing in my stake. I truly wish more young people could understand what violating our Saviors' instructions on obeying the Word of Wisdom by vaping, etc. can do to them. These substances destroy the will to obey commandments and live a good life; they also can lead to other addictive substances. Addicted people are most assuredly not in control of their lives---their addictions are. And despite what someone may think, these things can and do cause addiction all around the world. I've seen it.
