Enoch Train to Perform Benefit Concert April 3

Salt Lake City, UT-Acclaimed folk ensemble Enoch Train has been very busy recently.

The eight-member band is about to release its third full-length studio album, and still has found time to perform for national television, do educational workshops in schools and get involved in good causes.

On April 3, Enoch Train will continue that trend by performing a benefit concert for the Unity Spiritual Center of Salt Lake City. The building housing the center is in desperate need of a new boiler and the concert will raise funds to purchase one.

Tickets for the concert are $12 and available through Smith’s Tix. Music for the April 3 concert begins at 7:30 pm. The concert will be held at the Unity Spiritual Center (4961 South State Street, Salt Lake City).

Enoch Train will be performing music from their latest studio release, SHALL WE GATHER. The concert will be Enoch Train’s first public performance following the March 26 release of the new album.

SHALL WE GATHER features more of Enoch Train’s award-winning unique contemporary arrangements of traditional folk and hymn tunes. Enoch Train front man Clive Romney says the band performs “American folk music with a passport.” The band’s previous albums have won them 8 Pearl Awards.

Enoch Train takes the next step on SHALL WE GATHER, incorporating choir and symphony orchestra into their music. Last summer, the band was invited to perform the album’s title track with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on the occasion of the Nauvoo Temple dedication.

Enoch Train’s decision to showcase their new music in a benefit concert for the Unity Spiritual Center is another manifestation of the band’s desire to use their musicianship to uplift communities. In late February Enoch Train gave workshops in schools throughout Evanston, WY as part of a Young Musicians educational program. The band was also asked to represent the music of Salt Lake City during a recent taping of the national program “Food Nation with Bobby Flay” for the Food Network. The program airs at 7 and 10 PM on April 15th.

Just recently the Mt. Vernon Academy, a neighbor to the Unity Spiritual Center, and Gorill-It Mobile BBQ have joined Enoch Train to present a fundraising dinner before the concert. For a $10 contribution you will enjoy chicken, caeser salad, pasta salad, raspberry lemonade and an eclair, with all proceeds going toward the boiler replacement. The dinner will take place at Mt. Vernon Academy’s campus, 184 Ea. Vine St., just around the corner and east of the Unity Spiritual Center. Reservations can be made by calling 281-2400.

The Unity Spiritual Center is a non-denominational church that welcomes people of all backgrounds and religions. The center holds weekly worship services as well as seminars and educational courses.
