BYU’s premiere a capella group Vocal Point released a new music video Friday. The video features the nine-man group joined by a small choir to perform a new take on the wonderful, traditional song of praise, “Amazing Grace”. We’ve heard this song a lot and as such, it may be easy to take the full impact of the lyrics for granted. But hearing this new version helps us to experience the words and their meaning anew.
In a Facebook post announcing the new video, BYU Vocal Point shared what the song means to them in the form of a verse found in 2 Nephi 25:26:
This scripture accurately sums up how we feel about the message of this song: “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, . . . that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” Through the grace of Christ, we can overcome the “dangers, toils, and snares” of life, and His grace will lead us home.
