On Sunday, May 14, Church leaders shared messages of appreciation and recognition on social media for the contributions of the mothers in their lives.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared gratitude for his wife of 60 years, Sister Harriett Uchtdorf, and for the special gifts, promises and blessings daughters of God possess.

“Never underestimate the power of your example and influence for good as you serve in your families, communities and church callings. Let me assure you that the Lord knows you. He loves you. He will bless you for your dedication to Him and His children.”

Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson taught of Mother Eve in a post on Facebook. President Johnson noted that after Eve’s choice in the garden, the scriptures teach that she “called upon the name of the Lord” as she tried to carry her mortal burdens.

“I love the example of Eve, and the legacy of righteousness she left me, and all of her daughters. As a mother of sons, daughter of God and disciple of Jesus Christ, I know that I can’t go at it alone, and I don’t need to, and I won’t. Choosing to be bound to my Savior, Jesus Christ, through the covenants I have made with God, ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.’”

In a video post on Facebook, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles wrote of the reverence shown by Jesus Christ for His mother, Mary. “As each of us learns from and follows His example, we likewise will show love and genuine appreciation for our mothers and for the women who mean so much to us.”
