The Commission on Education, Science and Technology of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala awarded a special recognition to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its contribution to transforming the public education system in various locations across the country.
At a ceremony on Thursday, November 7, Congressman Faver Emilio Salazar Cordero, along with other members of the Education Commission, expressed gratitude for the donations that have benefited thousands of public school students in Guatemala.
“Thousands of desks, blackboards, tables and chairs have been donated by The Church of Jesus Christ and its members in several areas, including Jalapa, my own, which was prioritized and blessed. Thank you very much; hands that give will never be empty,” Cordero said.
Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, First Counselor in the Central America Area Presidency, received the recognition from legislators.
