The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the future site of the Eket Nigeria Temple. An exterior rendering for the Huntsville Alabama Temple has also been released.

Eket Nigeria Temple

The Eket Nigeria Temple will be built on a 7-acre site located on Eket/Oron Road in Ikot Ibiok, Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Plans call for a one-story temple of approximately 18,850 square feet and a meetinghouse on the site. This will be the city’s first temple.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this house of the Lord during the October 2022 general conference.

“I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can,” he said then.

The Eket Nigeria Temple is one of six temples planned to be built in the country. Five other temples are planned for AbujaBenin CityCalabarLagos and Uyo. The Aba Nigeria Temple was dedicated in 2005 by former Church President Gordon B. Hinckley.

There are more than 250,000 Latter-day Saints in 840 congregations in Nigeria.
