What a great reminder! The other morning during scripture study I was struck by a verse I'd read many times before but hadn't really absorbed. It's 1 Nephi 3:6, right before the well-known verse in 1 Nephi 3:7, "I will go and do..." (so maybe that's why it doesn't get the emphasis it deserves): "Therefore go, my son, and thou shalt be favored of the Lord, because thou hast not murmured."
