Staying away from church because we are fearful would deny us of the great blessings that come from renewing our Sacrament covenants with the Lord. That would be a far greater tragedy than being shot. "And should we die before our journey's through, happy day, all is well!"

Yes, the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring peace, but it does not make us immune from attack. The Nephites realized this and put "watchmen on the tower". They were not the aggressors, but they did protect themselves from attack. They did actively defend themselves. Praying that you will not be next is great, but the Lord expects us to DO something in case it does happen. Because it did happen to a group of faithful Saints in Michigan we need to take active steps to protect our families from an actual attack. No matter where you live, you may be a target just as the Saints were in Missouri and Illinois. I just returned from Far West where more than 400 Saints were murdered. They lie in unmarked graves. If we are prepared we need not fear. We read is the scriptures, but what to do? I recommend ALL of our leaders read "First 30 Seconds" by Ed Monk. It will give you a realistic, workable plan that can prevent another Michigan style atrocity. We must never be the aggressors, but we must always be the defenders of the innocent. Remember the Title of Liberty. Apply it now.

I was awakened around 3 AM by some troubling thoughts that linger from the past weekend's tragic events, and began to pray. No longer able to sleep, I got up and am now reading this, thankful it landed in my inbox from the Proctor's work. What wonderful words of comfort you have shared, thank you for putting this into perspective so clearly. I love the preparation part and the promises you have reminded me of here. Grateful for your work and the timeliness of this article.
