As a 100% British Caucasian (as in “no tanning here”) I often wonder how honoring my ancestry impacts those with cultures that were affected by the imperialist history of my people. Since we were mostly “working class” we probably weren’t personally involved but I do remember a couple of innocently derogatory sayings from my childhood. No point in denying them, they existed but being raised to be kind, polite and intelligently curious has guided me to an appreciation for the power of unconditional love. These differences were created so we could overcome them on a person to person level.
