I was so sorry to miss this great event but at 87 and needing a sedan chair to arrive at the hotel, it was impossible. I just have to enjoy your lovely photos and imagine I was there. Thanks for sharing. What great new friends!!!

Dian is so right- the trip to the terraces and Guilin was the treat of the trip. The entire trip was wonderful, but the beauty of the outdoor nature of China was fantastic!

Going up to the terraces and the charming hotel was a major treat for me. I was one of the 3 who was carried up on a sedan chair. It was quick, the men who carried the chairs were charming and my arthritic hip was very happy not to have walked up the steep trail. Try it, you'll like t and will get to experience a super area.

Am going to China for 2 weeks in March on a tour that includes Beijing and Shanghai and the places you mentioned but not the terraces. Is being in good physical condition necessary for touring the terraces from any level? Please respond to e-mail address. Thank you!

The village is Ping'an. Tourism has moved on over the last 5 years but the area is still a highlight for many visitors: https://china-journeys.com/china-holidays/extensions/beyond-guilin-longsheng-rice-terraces
