Thank you Sister Elzey. I laughed out loud several times. You described me to a tee. Often, I would start a project, leave it and come back to find some sympathetic sister had finished it for me. Crooked, yes, stuck in the wrong place, yes, and so forth. I did knit some leper bandages. And as one sister said, you made my day. Thank you.

You have just made my day! I too am craft-impaired and thought I was the only one. You have given me hope. By the way, I'm a "lifer," having grown up with a mother who made about 40 sets of acrylic grapes when she was the RS president. Her crafting ability didn't rub off on her daughter...

I joined the Church at 17, in 1971, and couldn't agree more. We just finished our annual 'craft night' thankfully bolstered by assembling a freezer meal, tortilla making and a first aid class. As a young bride crafting carolers and a pine cone wreath almost cost me my marriage. If I cut it the item is crooked, if I glue it, the item comes apart, and if I use a glue gun I burn myself. I too tend the food and socialize, giving my support as RS president. Thanks for the humor. Fortunately crafting is not a commandment or one of the principles and ordinances of the gospel.

I tend to avoid crafts in general myself. I can do cross-stitch but I can never frame my completed projects. I just barely took up knit and crochet (I'm 41) and I think those above 3 things are the closest I'll get to crafting. Anything else that requires glue, paste, paint, decoupage, cutting, etc.. I am at a loss. Thanks for this article! It's nice to know I'm not alone.
(& I have Pinterest but I don't use it for craft ideas.)
