Dear Kathy, I just needed to let you know how much I appreciate the many years you spent working so diligently for Meridian. I don't know if you are still in a capacity with the magazine but I have many fond thoughts of our time together in Sterling and working together in the temple. I occasionally see my oldest daughters "Bear-Bear" in among her precious things and I think of you and a long ago Relief Society Lesson. :-) I pray Fathers richest blessings upon you and yours! Love, Shauna

Here you are! We were starting to worry that our fave columnist had disappeared. Soooo sorry you've had to go through this ordeal. Scary. What a blessing to have you back. I'm sending you a note in your aol email about something I didn't want to write here. Thanks for all you do!

Welcome back! Being one of what I'm sure are many who have been remembering you in our prayers, I am grateful to read this post from you.

My goodness - I had no idea of your ordeal. I'm from Valley Forge, Pa and we used to work a temple shift together. A friend of mine and former Valley Forger sent me one of your articles where you mentioned working in the DC Temple. I've been reading Meridian ever since that introduction. Thank you and best wishes with your recovery. Kathleen Fulmer

I, too, have missed your columns and checked in tonight to see if you were back. What an ordeal you've been through! I went through something similar a few years ago, and remember setting a goal of just walking to the bedroom door and back. I could not believe that having spent a few months in the hospital meant that I could not walk! But it did. You will have vastly new perspectives after having experienced this. Bask in the love of the Saints -- it is SUCH a blessing.

Kathy, We hadn't seen you at the Temple, but had no idea why. Thought you'd gone on a vacation. Some vacation! Glad you're getting back your life. We will send prayers your way. Love, The Snows

Yes there are many of us who have been thru this process but we still love to hear from others about their adventures to recovery. Yes priesthood blessings work even when we are in a coma. I have forgotten all I told my wife during recovery. For me those scriptures I had read earlier were also a great support during recovery. Again welcome back and thank you for your comments

I had a friend who told me that it was "different for Mormons" (she was Catholic). They were headed for Germany with the Army, my spouse was going to Korea. She just knew she would get to Germany and be isolated, whereas, if our family would have gone, she said we "would have had instant family". Because of our religion. I've come to believe that it is true, we have a family presence no matter where we are in the world.

Welcome back! I'm so glad you're on the road to recovery. It sounds like you've been through a great ordeal. I'm glad you and your husband have been treated so well.

I thought you'ld given up the articles! So glad you haven't, not glad to hear you had been sick. I was thinking about your 'how do we show love ' question on the weekend and wondered why you hadn't asked anything of late!! Ha ha. Now we all know.

I am so glad you are getting better. I followed your progress on Fluffy's updates. He mentioned very briefly that he lost his job during this time. You are brave, great people. Thanks for sharing.

Boy, when you go down for the count, you do it in a grand way, baby! You and your good husband have been through so much, and I pray that you both may have energy and resolve throughout your recovery period. I look forward to reading your columns again. Welcome back!
CarolynApril 30, 2013
Wow, that's an awful lot to go through! I am so sorry you and your husband have had such a lengthy, scary thing to go through. Glad you are back with us and pray the rest of your recovery will go well!

Welcome back. I too wondered where you were. When you were out cold in the coma and didn't see any visions or visitations, etc. - I hear you - I experienced something similar - during an operation I stopped breathing for a bit - was out for the count - but didn't see any light or float out of my body - just gone for a bit. Guess I needed a deep nap (ha!). Hope your recovery goes well. Welcome back.

Dear Kathy, I read your recent article about your terrible ordeal. Thank you for sharing your story. What courage you have! I have never heard of a husband called "Fluffy" before but I picture a big bear of a man all cuddly and sweet. For sure he is a loyal prince to take such good care of you. God bless you both to continue on in love, loyalty and strength.
ShareeApril 30, 2013
So glad you're back, Kathy. I have been praying for you. When I came down with pneumonia myself in mid-February and was laid up for nearly 6 weeks, I thought of you and was grateful that, as sick as I felt, I was not as bad off as you were. I never want to have pneumonia again and hope you never have to go through it again, either. Welcome back.
TrishApril 30, 2013
I've been wondering what happened to you! I've loved your columns and even wrote to the Proctors asking where you "went" since I hadn't seen anything from you for quite some time. I'm so sorry you missed Christmas, but just think--it will make this next Christmas that much sweeter. Please, please take care!

I'm SO glad to hear from you!! I wondered where you were! I thought maybe you were traveling, but I was picturing Islands in the South Pacific not various hospitals! I love your thoughts about membership in the Kingdom. I'm so glad you were taken care of by so many loving Mormons!!! We truly are like ants - we know our jobs, we know what to do when 'life' happens. Welcome back to Earth Life! It's just better with you in it!
Janet UKApril 30, 2013
