I have frequently (including today) had the experience where after coming home from the temple, I take a few minutes to locate additional sources for the person and with that process find spouses or more siblings. They are waiting for us to do what can only be done in mortality. Oh, and those who struggle to find available family names, your work with indexing can bless many individuals.

I had been waiting since Aug. 17, 2019, after my endowment to start on my family's work. One of my great grandmothers was very important to me because I look just like her and my great grandfather was done and she wasn't so I notified the person and finally Sept. 22, 2019, I got her opened up and printed everything off. On the 25th I went to the Temple. I was just going to baptize her but, I felt this presence, that kept me there. I went on and completed everything with her that day. I knew she was not letting me leave without getting her work done. I sat in my car and smiled and cried at the same time. I am so happy that I was able to help her.

Paul, My husband's family goes back to Nauvoo on both sides. He was so discouraged because he was unable to find any family names. We served a mission at the Utah, Salt Lake Headquarters Mission a few years back. As a result of the training he received there, he has now found over 300 family names to take to the temple. I pray you will also be able to find family names.

“Ordinance ready” on the Family tree app can help you with finding family names to take to the temple. I was given a document years ago and have used it quite often to find family members on my husband side. This week I have gone through with a fine tooth comb and found many names that were missing one or two ordinances. As I completed their sealings I had an overwhelming feeling there’s more out there to find. (I too had a Francis Allen)

While these are wonderful accounts of assistance with family history, I have yet to have had the opportunity to take family names to the temple. My family history goes back generations in the church. It is discouraging to try to find names that haven't already been done. However I must point out that family history is more than just taking names to the temple. It is knowing our ancestor's stories as well.

I am an ordinance worker, and many times I have felt, along with the patrons, that their loved ones were close by as they serve as a proxy for their own family members. One day, in a particular ordinance area, it got very quiet - the kind of quiet where even at a party everything seems to stop at the same time - as I assisted a sister with her family name. It was very significant for both of us. I have also gone farther in my own research and have had the opportunity to do more work for my own ancestors while serving.

Thank you for sharing these stories and experiences. I feel the ordinance workers are earthly angels and felt and seen their wonderful spirits add so much to the work being done.
