A fire has raged in the Carlton Complex area of Washington State burning over 400 square miles and 300 homes. Sylvia Hammond, a stake Relief Society president in the Carlton Complex area of Washington state was asked by her priesthood leader to reach out and gather much-needed supplies as far as she could. She turned to Meridian readers who have rallied. She wrote:

“Thank you for your support and the huge and fast response we have received from Meridian readers from all over the country. I know it was an unusual way of requesting help and that you can’t publicize every need that arises throughout the country. You saw the need and have blessed the lives of those impacted by the fires in Washington State. My heartfelt thanks to you and your Meridian readership. I will give you a more detailed report on the donations in a couple of weeks when things begin to slow down.”
