Since the founding of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1830, the number of congregations has risen nearly exponentially. As these congregations grow, they become organized into a stake, generally with 3,000 to 5,000 members in five to 10 congregations.

As of 2024, there are 30 nations that have 15 or more stakes within their borders. Nine of the 30 countries are located in South America, and five are in Africa. All six inhabited continents have at least two countries with more than 15 stakes.

This graphic, developed by the Church News, helps illustrate the diversity of locations where the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has particularly flourished.
