The Mormon Channel recently released a video documenting the ways in which the Beirut Lebanon Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped the Syrian refugees in their area. A refugee may leave behind the threats of his or her home country, but the challenges are just beginning.

“It’s hard for a man to accept that he is not able to provide for his family, that he can’t feed them, that he can’t buy clothes for them,” one refugee father vulnerably shares.

These families are truly in situations wherein they cannot rescue themselves. They look for a helping hand to reach out to them. One volunteer in Beirut put it this way, “We serve others because this is what Christ taught us, Jesus Christ always helped the poor, He healed the sick—He had mercy on everyone.”

We can seek opportunities to follow as Christ taught.

Millions of refugees live throughout the world and stand in need of assistance; waiting for someone willing to lift them up. Find out how you can contribute at https://giveback.lds.org.
