Elder Maxwell Adjei Arthur, a missionary that was serving in the Nigeria Calabar Mission, passed away during the night on December 26 from a seizure. He had been suffering from seizures since childhood and was 22 years old. Our hearts go out to his family, it is especially difficult to lose someone so close to Christmas.
On December 27, LDS Church spokesperson Daniel Woodruff issued the following statement:
“Elder Arthur is from the Assin Foso Ghana Stake, and has been serving in the Nigeria Calabar Mission since September of this year. We mourn with his family and loved ones and pray that they will be blessed with the comfort and peace of the Spirit as they remember him.”

We are now an international Church. Let each of us find time to pray for Elder Maxwell Adjei Arthur, his family, fellow missionaries and the work being done in Nigeria.

Thanks to all who are willing to sacrifice all to build the Lord's church. May He bless and comfort his family and friends.
