Elder Spencer Owusu, a 24-year-old full-time missionary serving for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, died Thursday after the sudden onset of an illness.
According to Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff, Elder Owusu reported that was not feeling well and was taken to an emergency room. Unfortunately, the exact cause of his death is still unclear.
Elder Owusu is from Ghana and has been serving in the Cote d’Ivoire Abidjan West Mission since September 2018.
The Church announced Elder Owusu’s passing with “profound sadness.” In a Church statement they added, “We sincerely pray for his parents and loved ones as they mourn his passing and remember his life and service.”
