Holy Week and Easter are two key cornerstones of every denomination of Christian faith. From formal cathedral services to intimate family gatherings, the celebrations commemorating the final week of Jesus’ life are commonplace among disciples of Jesus Christ. This shared observance creates a powerful sense of unity among Christians globally, connecting them through a common narrative of sacrifice, redemption, and hope.

This Easter, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is emphasizing the literal Resurrection of Jesus Christ through the #GreaterLove initiative, inspired by John 15:13:

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Throughout the Easter season, members are invited to share messages about the Resurrection and invite friends to worship with us. The initiative will start to crescendo in mid-February and continue throughout Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

The Focus of Easter

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued an invitation to all members to contemplate the profound implications of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the pivotal event that makes the universal resurrection a reality. This important message was initially conveyed in President Russell M. Nelson’s New Year’s Day address on social media, wherein he referenced the doctrinal pronouncements found in “The Living Christ: A Proclamation to the World.”

How You Can Participate

Here are three ways members of the Church can participate in celebrating and sharing the message of Easter:

  1. Amplify the Message of Christ’s Love: Share official Church social media content related to the Resurrection. Engage in Christ-centered conversations about Easter with friends. Disseminate messages from the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

  2. Extend Invitations to Worship: Personally invite friends and acquaintances to Easter Sunday or Palm Sunday services. Utilize invitations (printed or virtual) that include stake or ward information. Stake communication councils should collaborate with priesthood and ward councils to coordinate invitation efforts.

Coordinate with local leaders to display banners advertising Easter services outside meetinghouses (where appropriate). Consider extending invitations to local community leaders.
  3. Create Your Own Social Media Posts: Share your personal feelings of gratitude toward Jesus Christ during this Easter season.
