The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the location of the Charlotte North Carolina Temple, less than two months after a house of the Lord was announced for North Carolina’s most populous city.
Planned to be a single-story building of approximately 30,000 square feet, the temple will be built on a 5.9-acre site at 345 Providence Road S in Weddington, North Carolina, a southern suburb of Charlotte near the state’s border with South Carolina.
The location, a site map and the general description of the temple’s size, were published Tuesday, May 30, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
President Russell M. Nelson announced a temple for Charlotte on April 2, just seven weeks ago, one of 15 temple locations he identified during the closing session of April 2023 general conference.
More information about the temple — including an exterior rendering and a groundbreaking date — will be released later.
