In the spring of 2025, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints turned the page and entered a new chapter in its Easter observance with the launch of the #GreaterLove initiative—an inspired campaign focusing not only on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ but on fostering deeper connection, unity, and service through the Savior’s example.
In many ways, it builds upon previous efforts like #BecauseOfHim and #BecauseHeLives, while also seeking the year-over-year resonance of the Church’s beloved Christmas campaign, #LightTheWorld.
But unlike any Easter initiative before, #GreaterLove is rooting itself in the calendar and the community—growing into an annual tradition that amplifies the story of Holy Week and opens hearts to Jesus Christ’s mission, atonement, and resurrection.
At the heart of this initiative is a simple, eternal truth spoken by the Savior Himself:
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
This greater love—Christ’s selfless sacrifice for all humanity—forms the basis of this Easter season’s invitation to draw closer to Him, to experience Holy Week in a deeper way, and to reach outward in love to others (including friends of all faiths).
A Season to Remember and Rejoice in Christ
Easter, for many, has become a day of family gatherings, pastel décor, and spiritual reflection. But #GreaterLove reminds us that Easter is more than one Sunday each year. It is a season of spiritual renewal. It’s a time to remember that because of Jesus Christ, we can all live again, start anew, and look forward with hope. His sacrifice was not only for those in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago—but for each of us today.
With that spirit in mind, the Church is encouraging individuals and families to participate in worship services, reflect on the events of Holy Week, and connect with Christ through scripture study, music, art, and service. Resources, devotionals, children’s activities, and Easter videos are available through the Church’s Easter portal, all designed to deepen understanding and gratitude for the Savior’s love and power to transform lives.
Celebrating Together: Interfaith Events that Unite
Perhaps the most inspiring outgrowth of #GreaterLove is the flourishing of interfaith events along the Wasatch Front. As the spiritual landscape of Utah becomes increasingly diverse, the Easter season has become a catalyst for deeper collaboration between Christian denominations and broader faith communities. Below are just two of the events that are open to the public and free of charge.
Palm Sunday: Journey to Easter at BYU
On Sunday, April 13, the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University will host the “Journey to Easter” concert and interfaith reflection. More than ten choirs, including children’s ensembles, will join forces with the Lux Choral Society & Orchestra in a powerful musical and spiritual tribute to Christ’s final days. The evening will be enriched with reflections from community pastors, civic leaders such as Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi, and professors from both BYU and the University of Utah—embodying the spirit of unity that transcends religious labels.
The event’s opening will feature a re-enactment of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, as children wave palm branches and sing “Hosanna.” An art display titled His Hands by Timothy Bishop adds visual depth to the evening, illustrating the Savior’s life and ministry through expressive sketches.

Why I Believe: An Interfaith Easter Celebration
Taking place the very next night, April 14, the brand-new Ballpark at America First Square in South Jordan will become the stage for one of Utah’s largest interfaith Easter events to date. Why I Believe is a night of praise, testimony, and togetherness that welcomes individuals of all faiths to gather and celebrate Jesus Christ.
With an anticipated crowd of over 8,000, the event will feature performances by chart-topping Christian musicians, including the King will come and vocal group J209. Guest speakers Jeff McCullough (Hello Saints) and LDS author David Butler (Don’t Miss This) will offer messages of faith, bridging Protestant and Latter-day Saint perspectives on Christ’s love.
From the Stations of the Cross to powerful art displays, the evening is structured as a sensory and spiritual celebration. As Bethany Zeyer, an interfaith committee member, noted, “This event isn’t about any single denomination. It’s about uniting as friends to celebrate our shared belief in Jesus and foster faith, understanding, and love across different backgrounds.”

A Future Shaped by Greater Love
What sets this year’s Easter celebrations apart is not just their scale, but their spirit. Interfaith collaboration along the Wasatch Front has matured into something more than polite cooperation—it has become a movement. These events are not mere concerts or gatherings; they are milestones marking a shift toward inclusivity, friendship, and shared purpose in honoring Jesus Christ.
This growing interfaith engagement echoes the true message of Easter: that through Christ, barriers can fall, wounds can heal, and all are invited to partake in His love. Whether through song, service, or simple shared testimony, the message of #GreaterLove is coming alive in powerful and beautiful ways.
As we approach Easter 2025, the invitation is open to all: come unto Christ, walk the path of Holy Week, and feel His love more deeply than ever before. As you do, may you discover a greater measure of peace, joy, and unity—not only with your own faith, but with your neighbors in theirs.
