I'm by no means a person of the "left" - I'm actually fairly moderate. But my biggest concern with this issue is for other non-LGBT people affected by the bathroom laws. What about a parent who has a disabled child of the opposite sex or an adult child who is helping their opposite gender parent to use the public restrooms? I support family bathrooms which are generally unisex. Possible options are having individual, private bathrooms or making bathroom stalls where the doors don't have gaps in the sides or on the bottom (floor to ceiling). Or we could all just use those icky port-a-potties as those are gender neutral.

thanks for the article and me and my family will never shop at Target again.

I have no desire to have my daughters and granddaughters exposed to the sight of mens private parts swinging in the breeze. Men often do not mind moving around with exposure. Plenty of that observed in the old Army barracks. I see this as another affront to common sense. Do the ladies expose themselves as readily as the men in the same kind of surroundings? I have no idea. Can we safely say that the male side of the house will enjoy the views? Yes. Target and I are divorcing.

I am so tried if the political statements and attachments of major retailers and businesses, not to mention government entities that directly put the needs and wants of a teeny tiny minority ahead of the needs of the vast majority. When I heard about Target's stance a few weeks back, I didn't blink before saying, "I'm done with Target," which makes me very sad. I have been a loyal Target shopper for decades, but in one fell swoop they told me that the safety and privacy of my daughters and I didn't matter as much, if not more, to them than the needs of a miniscule number of folks who "feel" better in my bathroom or my dressing area. I'm sure we have all shared space with transgendered folks before, but it only became an issue in recent years because people who are blatantly male, at least in appearance, now want access to not just dressing rooms and bathrooms, but also locker rooms. It's a bridge too far. If businesses want to put in unisex family spaces, by all means, do! Target had a chance to announce they had heard their customers' concerns and were remodeling there stores to create more unisex spaces, but they didn't. Instead, they said, "Come on in!" to the ladies' room to every Tom, Dick, and hairy pervert. And for that, me and my money will shop elsewhere.

Kate, your off the cuff and rather cavalier comment is disturbing when you consider some facts: (1) that an individual does not need to cross dress to go into the opposite biologic gender bathroom and (2) news reports of men going into women's bathrooms and photographing, etc, little girls are happening daily. Read the news, it is happening and it is frightening. Pedophilia is an illness and it does not come with a rash which identifies it.

The things I hold dear, such as my values, are certainly worth the effort necessary to express and uphold them. I have only joined in one boycott and the Target one is it. I agree with Becky's comment "This was clearly a political statement. Most Target stores already have a single occupancy family restroom. It was a non issue for Target shoppers and employees." It is a sad thing that I need to escort my granddaughters and young grandson to the bathroom for their own safety. Interesting note: I have not seen any women rushing to use the men's bathroom. What a mess.

Sorry, but I think this boycott is a tempest in a teapot. I have frequented womens restrooms my entire life and have never seen anyone at the door asking for an ID as I enter. Men have always been able to go into womens restrooms, and some certainly have. Yes, it is possible that some evil person will cross-dress and use this as a cover to go into a restroom and assault an innocent person, but that could have just as easily happened 10 years ago as tomorrow. This whole thing is just silly. Bye-- I'm off to do some recreational shopping at Target.

This comment is for those using phrases like "cave to the left". Folks, Target is the left. Target has given lots and lots of money to promote political homosexual agendas for a very long time. It's their idea of what human rights is. For us human rights is saving people's lives from despotic rulers. For them it is figuring out how to allows homosexual organizations to write the rules for society.

I wonder if, eventually, we may all be leaving our homes with a great big long list of stores/products/services we will/will not buy from because of their stand on this issue or that. In that case, it might take hours to do all the shopping that used to take minutes! Speaking for myself, I am becoming tired and weary of every person or group calling to protest this and boycott that!

As I understand it, the federal law doesn't permit a separate restroom for transgenders. It allows them to use the restroom that they identify with. Businesses, schools and institutions may bear the full weight of the law down upon them for not adopting the policy which "Target" has taken.
ckbluthMay 4, 2016
See what happens the first time a woman or girl are raped or assaulted in one of the dressing rooms or bathrooms. They will sue the store because they had pleanty of evidence that the ciminal element would use the law to gain access to these women and girls. I would think their insurance companies would have warned them of their exposure (pardon the pun) to lawsuits!
BeckyMay 4, 2016
This was clearly a political statement. Most Target stores already have a single occupancy family restroom. It was a non issue for Target shoppers and employees. Target would have been better off by saying nothing, mthen handling the exceptions on a case by case basis.

I will say this, pressure from the left pushes me further to the right. If the blind, deaf, and dumb want to force the issue, I'm sure I won't be the only one pushing back. If those at Target responsible for this foolishness aren't gone, I will be. And I hope many, many others will follow my example.

It is comforting to see a strong backlash against Targets cave to LGBT advocates. I would be happy if this caused Target to cease to exist. It would be a wake up call to the liberal and far left main stream media that trampling on the rights of the citizens doesn't pay.
LukeMay 4, 2016
It is gratifying to see Target get socked in the gut for its gutless surrender to leftist facists as they demand unreasonable access for transgenders in womens bathrooms. I would not be disappointed if their stock went to zero and they went out of business. Thank goodness there was a backlash. Obama and his leftist agenda and Christian persecution must end and the supreme court needs to support the first amendment.

Like a time-bomb, intimidation methods used by politicians and the media to keep the silent majority from voicing concerns always ends up backfiring with a violence that is proportional to the level of resentment accumulated over the years. We see this happening all over the "free" world, whether it be about gay marriage, the gender theory, abortion, or massive immigration from the Third World. The LGBT Lobby and all those who consider that the end justifies the means would do well to consider this potential risk when pushing their Agenda with little consideration towards those who do not share their views.
