It is a great blessing that our children honor the Sabbath Day with their young children, by being in their meetings and on time. I know it isn't easy with young families and I know it is a sacrifice to spend most of the meeting keeping their children quiet and trying to have a meaningful experience at the same time. Now that I can enjoy my meetings without interruption, it seems something of a luxury to be able to ponder, commit, and be grateful. I only have to remember some of the miracles in my life, large and small, that remind me of a loving Savior and Heavenly Father, who desire that I remember them by covenant each week. Having said that, I do not feel guilty missing because of illness, The Lord knows where I am and what I'm doing.

I am happy to say that even though I have had 5 major surgeries in less than 2 years, I have only missed one Sunday of Sacrament Meeting. And That was because I was in the hospital that Sunday. If I had surgery on Tuesday afternoon, I was still in church on Sunday morning. Thanks to my wonderful daughter in law who came over to help me get dressed because my surgeries were things like joint replacements, and rotator cuff repairs, and I could not get myself dressed. I love Sacrament Meeting as well as the other meetings. I wouldn't miss for anything if I could avoid missing church.

In mid-February, I came down with what I thought was a bad cold. I was sick. So I stayed home from church that Sunday. The next Sunday I was actually worse and stayed home again. That week I went to the doctor and found out I had a very bad case of pneumonia. I ended up missing 3 more Sundays of church. Last Sunday I was well enough to go. At first I thought I would just go to Sacrament Meeting. but I stayed for all three meetings. And it felt great! Sometimes we have GOOD reasons not to go to Church, but it is wonderful when we are able to go again. Vacationing is no reason to skip Church, unless you're on a formal tour with an itinerary that won't allow it. Some years ago, while traveling abroad, some friends, we went to Church in the huge Hyde Park Ward in London, and the following Sunday in a tiny ward in a small town in Scotland. When we go camping up in the Tetons, we drive into Jackson Sunday mornings where the have a special Sacrament Meeting just for tourists. One time we had a real treat. L. Tom Perry was also up there vacationing and spoke in that Sacrament Meeting. If there is no LDS ward in the area, you can always visit another Church. I'm sure Heavenly Father would rather have you in A church rather than NO church.
