Amen. Amen. Brother Goddard gets it, as does Stephen Robinson. The whole point of Christianity is that we have a Savior - who saves us. He will save anyone who has faith enough to ask for it. That is so difficult for Mormons to accept because we are all about making ourselves worthy. But being forgiven and changed by Christ isn't dependent on our level of doing, or on our level of obedience. Think about all the scriptural accounts of those forgiven and saved. Christ never turned anyone away and told them to come back when they were "worthy." None of us are worthy of forgiveness, that's why it's forgiveness. Alma went from being wicked to being redeemed, changed to a state of righteousness, just by pleading, "Jesus thou son of God have mercy on me". So was I, so was brother Goddard, and so can you!

Thank you so much . Ido need this advice for myself but I smiled when I read the part about the woman you councelled. Just recently, i was frustrated while listening to a friend complain about a chronic problem she has but refuses to take any action. this is sadly typical with her and it's hard to watch. I blurted out at the end of the conversation "well, do something about it." Since then, I've been feeling that i need to find a better way to help her. This article is and will be so helpful as I listen to her going forward to remind me to listen to the Spirit to help her instead of just stating the obvious. Thank you.
