This is so true. How I wish this could be read by many more in this world of distractions with technology!

So true and timely.... its so important to "Be still and know that I am God" A distraction doesn't have to be evil to be effective.

The Joseph Smith quotes you share in this article were familiar to me but hit with new force at a more acute angle today...hopefully to help chisel away a few more distractions from my heart. Thank you so much for writing this!

I thought this was a problem and weakness unique to my life and my personality. You have given me new perspective...and the ability to see distraction and lack of focus for what they are...tools used against all of us. Thank you for your insight. It is far easier to stay on the right path when the obstacles are well defined.

I call it "the law of distraction". I had one biological child and 4 adopted children to care for and guide, yet due to my own upbringing that was so lacking, I was distracted by a demanding yet very successful career. I was distracted from morning til night for many years. My children grew up and all are now adults and all are completely inactive in church and several are wandering through wayward lives lacking morality, responsibility, and any meaning. Now the grandchildren are being raised without the guidance of responsible parents. The sins of the parents and grandparents are being relived...all due to the distractions I allowed in myself. I work and pray fervently now as I try to undo the damage of years of distraction. The regrets and sorrow are enormous. This article hits the nail on the head. Do not be lead about by every (or any) distraction Satan puts in front of you. Mortality is short and so too is the time you have to be effective, loving parents and to personally grow into the person Heavenly Father wants us to become. All the money I made is gone and worthless now. I can't have a "do over" so I am now playing "catch up", which is MUCH harder. Please wake up to what Satan is doing and don't be lead slowing away from our divine potential, slowly down to hell, away from our Fathers outstretched arms.

I am inspired each time I read one of Maureen's articles and this one really hits home. It takes continual effort to set aside the clutter of life and focus on the things of God that matter most!
