I remember about 15 years ago EVERYONE was getting surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. My sister and sister-in-law were both told the nerves were damaged and couldn't heal on their own. Their pain was mild, but their doctors were insistent. Terrified, they both had surgery which they didn't need. Now you rarely hear of that surgery anymore, thank goodness.
