- This fall, an LDS-based television series will be hitting primetime TV. According to the press release from Section Sixty Films, filming for the show will take place this summer in Heber, Utah and it will be called “This Is The Place.” The show is a ‘dramedy’ and will focus on the lives of those in a Mormon neighborhood in a small Colorado town. You can check out the press release and more info about the new show at this blog. The most recent entry in the blog promises to give anxious TV viewers insight into the show and its plots, so check it weekly to stay in the know.
- Father’s Day was yesterday, and if you’re still looking for something for your dad, husband or grandpa, try this blog for some good reads. The blogger reviews a few different LDS books that may appeal to the men in your life. Who knows, they might appeal to you as well.
- The Chronicles of Narnia are probably one of the best series of books I have ever read. They have been part of my book collection since I was probably 10 years old, and I reread them often. They are timeless and C.S. Lewis shares such wonderful messages regarding Christianity and love with his readers. I was recently sent the link to a blog all about C.S. Lewis’ book in the series, “The Silver Chair,” and the blogger gives some excellent insight into the story. After reading this blog, I highly recommend all to read ‘The Silver Chair’ and the rest of the books in the Narnia series. They are quick reads with many good morals and values. Check out the blog here.
- Writing about this next blog is kind of an oxymoron as I have been sitting at my computer for a few hours now, but all the same I thought it was very good advice. The blogger writes about a talk given by Eldar Bednar. In his talk, he locates the question of Internet usage and screen time within the framework of the Plan of Salvation (the link to the talk is in this blog as well). The blogger says she is not dissing blogging, but she said it is easy to forget the real world when you’re at the computer. I think she makes a valid point there. Using the Internet and computer is indeed a blessing, but spending too much time away from the real world can be hindering. Read her thoughts and Elder Bednar’s talk here.
- This blog has a great message. The most recent posting was this blogger’s story about hiking with his father and a simple yet powerful lesson he learned when they saw two bucks. I found it to be very uplifting and it also made me think.which buck would I be? Read the blog here and decide which buck you are.
