In the lovely town of Hurricane you will find some of the best dinner theater in the state of Utah. Rattlin’ D Playhouse, an import from Idaho, offers family-friendly, affordable comedy shows along with prime rib, chicken, or vegetarian meals (complete with lemonade and cheesecake). This month’s offering, a musical revue entitled My Funny Valentine, offers a wide selection of opportunities for the talented cast to showcase their singing, dancing, and rib-tickling abilities.

My wife and I caught the show opening night, and true to form, we laughed till it hurt. The food was excellent. The biggest surprise this time out is that the troupe went for the tear ducts as much as the funny bone; many of the songs were funny, but several were sweet-hearted and quite moving. A few members of the cast actually have professional-level voices; the rest hold their own in that regard, and they’re all gifted comedians.

The current show runs through February 22. The prices are shockingly good: $25 for dinner and a show ($23 for seniors and $20 for kids 3-12) and $16 for just the show ($13 for seniors and children). If you’re going to be in Southern Utah, check them out! If not, they do several shows a year, so “like” them on Facebook to stay in the loop for upcoming shows!
