The following comes from the Church Newsroom

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — President Russell M. Nelson, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring — has released its annual Christmas message. The  following was shared across several Church communication channels on Friday, November 29:

At this joyful time of year, we are grateful to celebrate with you the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Although He was born in humble circumstances, He is the central figure in all human history. His mission affects all who have lived and will yet live. Through His Atonement and Resurrection, He did what we could not do for ourselves: overcome death and be reconciled to our Heavenly Father.

We testify that He is the Son of the Eternal Father, who “so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). We share our witness and knowledge of this most important gift and invite you to do the same this Christmas season.

A Worldwide Invitation to Light the World This Christmas Season

When angels announced the birth of Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago, their message was one of goodness and joy (see Luke 2:10). Wherever you are this Christmas season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourages everyone to echo that message by bringing light and hope to those in need.

The invitation to Light the World begins today, December 1, 2024, with a special video now available on social media. It was filmed in London, New York City, Tokyo and Sydney, among other global locations. Participants from around the world collaborated on this project.
