Thank your for your powerful and sensitive article. As we learn to overcoming adversity we are given new hope. You are surrounded by people who love you as you take on this challenge. We are never alone, but we can be strengthened through the Refiner’s fire. That Refiner’s lesson brings new depth and understanding. I watch with a dear friend diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She is so busy filling her bottomless bucket list with life that she is too busy to mourn. She has a special needs daughter to love. Had it not been for the Refiner’s fire our nation would have lost the revolutionary war. We pray for that Refiner’s love, and quietly pray that we will win our battles. You have chosen to meet that test, and you are rewarded.

What a powerful, inspiring article. Almost as courageous as the woman who wrote it.

Thank you for sharing your story about facing the cancer diagnosis and about your love for your sister, your children, and those around you. Also, I appreciate your over arching faith in the Lord in this matter and all others, as well. I also understand the emotions that one faces when given a cancer diagnosis. However, I hold a different view of the implications of a cancer diagnosis. I truly believe there are ways to approach this challenge naturally and that the Lord has placed many alternative cures on this earth. Sadly, our current health system utilizes the allopathic model of treatment, which relies on surgeries, chemo, radiation, etc. I have studied and researched the subject of cancer for 1 year and have learned that many people have been healed using alternative methods. I wish I could tell you what books, free online resources, etc. to examine. I guess that's not allowed in these comments, so each person will have to do their own research. But suffice it to say that I overcame the effects of ovarian cancer using alternative methods and did so in a fairly short time. It required lifestyle changes (in diet, supplementation, stress levels, emotions, etc.) and great personal discipline. And in the end, it was the Lord who did the healing. I wish you and your loved ones only the best.

This is a beautiful article by a beautiful strong sister, teaching us all. I have three close friends who have been in the cancer battle. It's hard for me to imagine being so strong and hard not to be concerned that my turn is coming. Thank you for these uplifting, encouraging thoughts.

If a woman carries the BRCA gene, her husband needs to be tested as well. A child with two copies of the gene will have a particularly nasty form of Fanconi Anemia, a deadly genetic disorder.
