This is a very sweet poem. I have a son that is on a mission right now in Wisconsin, speaking Spanish. He has only 5 months left. I love my son and miss him very much.

Diane Pullen Fehr your poem is beautiful. Nana's go through the same emotions and thoughts. I am so proud of my grandson for choosing to serve the Lord. He left last Wednesday for Mexico MTC for a month and then on to Lima to serve and spread the gospel there. The count down has begun. I know that the Lord will watch over him and protect him while he is there and will watch over and protect us as well. Such a wonderful opportunity. I love you Elder Pearce. Ken McGowan, I also loved your poem. Thank you for sharing it.

I had to drop my daughter off at the airport, where she had to fly from Johannesburg to London, to Dallas and then Salt Lake. Just turned 19 a few weeks before that and never been on a plane alone anywhere. That was scary beyond words can explain and that without a cellphone for me to reach her to find out if she's okay. She's serving in London Hyde Park VC and after 3 weeks at MTC had to fly again, back to London, this time with her companion. Been in the field 4 months now. Love the poem, brought lots of tears and memories to heart.

We're soon headed to the MTC My darling wife and me And many loved ones we will leave behind Sons and daughters and every grandchild We've completed our work in giving them birth So now it's our time to spread on the earth Whatever blessings we possibly can Especially those from Father's Plan We will miss our family, my wife and me But through all the tears they can plainly see That they've been blessed with the gospel plan And it must now be spread to the rest of man So off we go on our Father's behest Determined and committed to doing our best That others too might greatly be blessed Thrusting that He will take care of the rest

Dropped my daughter off 5 weeks ago and feel the exact same things this mother said. Thank you for sharing. It is never easy saying goodbye but so wonderful to see what they can accomplish.
