The car was not a Volkswagen. Until I read some of the comments to this experience, I had never even considered that it might have been Ted Bundy. Whoever, it was, I was grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost that kept me safe that night and how that experience served to strengthen my testimony that He is real.

Was the car a Volkswagon, because that's what Bundy reportedly drove.

That was a terrifying event. So relieved you made it through safely. Ted Bundy! That is scary. So that would have been about 1978. In 1983 I attended a BYU Women's Conference and we stayed on campus. I had to find a bank and was told one was west. I had no idea I would have to go so far once I was going down the steps you may have been talking about. It was before supper time and it was a couple of blocks farther to where I was told the bank should be. I had second thoughts too when I was going down as I realized I was vulnerable, however, I continued. Nothing happened but that place was unsettling. When I got to the bank, there was our home teacher from Sherwood Park, Alberta! I was so happy to see him and his daughter! He gave me a ride back up to the campus. Your story brought chills up my spine as I remembered the feeling that had come over me on that long stairway.

Oh my goodness, Jerrilyn, thank you for sharing your story and for giving us another reason to be grateful for the Holy Ghost. It just gave me the shivers to read it. Makes me wonder if that guy might have been Ted Bundy. He had been on the Y campus and I have read the account of another female student's encounter with him. She luckily escaped too.

Do you think this person could have been Ted Bundy. In about 1974 or 1975, I had a similar experience. However, I was riding my bike home from Utah Valley Hospital after working my shift as an RN. Some one started following me as I went down Center Street. I felt very afraid. I had to ride so fast. I took a detour and finally got to my home on 9th East and 3rd South. Later, after moving to Colorado, and learning about this evil man, I felt like it could have been him. A lady moved into my ward in Colorado and one night she shared with me how her daughter had never been found in Provo during those Bundy years, and they were certain it was him. I do think that eventually her daughter's body was identified as one of his victims when he led the authorities to her body in the canyon. Anyway, I felt this sister's terror because of what happened to me. I never rode my bike to work after that experience.

Reminds me why we need to stay in tune with the Spirit, so we can clearly hear and heed those warnings. What an amazing story! I imagine at some point in the next life we will find out that we've been spared many times that we weren't even aware. We are flooded with blessings and protections.
