YES! We LDS need to realize that we can be saved here and now! In this life! You can be forgiven, changed, and feel joy and peace! Fear, guilt, despair, are given to EVERYONE, even and especially those who commit to following Christ. Read these accounts; Alma 36, Helaman 5, 2 Nephi 2:21, 2 Nephi 4:17-19, Mosiah 4:1-2, Romans 7, the story of Enos, Lamoni and his father (Alma 18:41 Alma 22:15 ). It couldn't be said any plainer than in the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican in Luke 18:9-14. If we plead for mercy, we are not only forgiven, but changed, born again, alive in Christ. This supplication to Christ for mercy is not only a good idea, it is ESSENTIAL to our salvation.
