A Wonderful Assortment of Books You Won’t Want to Miss “The Happiest Mommy Ever” Illustrated by “Mommy, what is the happiest you’ve ever been?” So begins this delightful picture book by Alice Furniss, illustrated by Julie Olson, a perfect book for moms and children to read together. As mother and son make cookies together, the mother answers her son’s question about happiness by telling him about memorable events in her life when she was happy. She tells him about when she was young, grew up, got married and then, the joyful day when he was born and now how happy she spending time together with him making cookies and telling stories. The book ends with another question. “Mommy, is this the happiest you’ve ever been?” And the mother answers, “Yes, THIS is the happiest I’ve EVER been!” With colorful artwork and a sweet message, this book will be a favorite with children and parents. I especially appreciate the fact that it illustrates that joyful moments are experienced throughout our entire lives, but that moments shared between family and loved ones are the most precious. Contentment Timely and beautifully written, Maria Covey Cole (daughter of Stephen and Sandra Covey) shares insights and important lessons that she’s learned throughout her life. She’s a wife, a mother of five, a former missionary to Dublin, Ireland, and a frequent presenter at Education Week at BYU. Her message is powerful and simple; even though motherhood can be challenging and hectic, women can enjoy the blessings of being a mother and find great contentment in this noble calling. Yet many of us struggle with the challenges and trials that go along with this calling and we sometimes get down on ourselves for not being “ideal” in our role as mothers. In this book, Maria discusses the importance of gaining perspective on motherhood, shunning comparisons with others, and allowing our natures to be changed through the grace of Christ. Not only are there valuable stories about the joys and trials of raising a family but there are quotes from prophets and Apostles, as well as numerous scripture verses. This book is a quick read and will make a wonderful gift. The message is one that all women will easily connect with and relate to. If you don’t buy it for someone else, then buy it for yourself. You’re worth it! “Why?
