President Dieter F. Uchtdorf to give keynote address March 7 at 9 a.m.

The Brigham Young University Church History Symposium, “The Worldwide Church: The Global Reach of Mormonism,” will be held Thursday, March 6, at Brigham Young University in Provo, and Friday, March 7, at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City. 

Participants will explore the Church’s impact and presence on the global stage and how the Church is adjusting to meet the needs of an international membership. Admission is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed to attend the event.

The symposium will begin Thursday in the BYU Conference Center at 9 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. The keynote address at 7 p.m. will be given by Terryl L. Givens, professor of literature and religion at the University of Richmond, where he holds the James A. Bostwick Chair in English.  

The symposium will continue Friday at the Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The keynote address at 9 a.m. will be given by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency of the Church.

The event is sponsored by the BYU Religious Studies Center, Continuing Education, the Department of Church History and Doctrine, and the Church History Library.
