Vocal Point, Brigham Young University’s celebrated male a cappella group, will perform in concert at the Covey Center for the Arts on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.
The concert will feature new songs and new group members, but will still have the same high caliber of entertainment and skill Vocal Point is famous for. Tickets for the event are $12 for reserved seating, with a $2 discount available for students. Tickets can be purchased online at coveycenter.org.
The concert on the main stage at the Covey Center wraps up a busy fall season for Vocal Point. On Saturday, Oct. 20, the group performed a concert at BYU-Hawaii and presented a fireside the next day on BYU-Hawaii campus. The performance marked the first time the group performed in Laie and the first time they performed outside of the U.S. mainland.
Additionally, they released a new album on Oct. 23 featuring a compilation of songs from past Vocal Point albums remixed and remastered, titled “Lead Thou Me On: Hymns and Inspiration.” The album is available at the BYU Bookstone, Deseret Book, iTunes and Amazon. The album was coproduced by current director McKay Crockett and past director James Stevens.
The nine-man singing group has been performing for more than 20 years since its start by two students who got the BYU Music Department to adopt them into their program. Their popularity has grown in recent years, due to their appearance the NBC show “The Sing-Off” and their use of new media and videos on YouTube.
