I am in my 82nd year and have just shared this picture and the article about the man of God that was George Washington with several of my visiting from ages 9 to 16 grandchildren. They also loved it. The words spoken were "Awesome! " "Oh, My now we know why he was so wonderful !" "Yes, he was a great President!" "Heavenly Father really blessed him.!" Thank you for having this available!!!!

I have had this painting on my living room wall for many years. About 5-6 yrs ago I came across one that has President Lincoln kneeling in prayer in some trees with a battleground in the distant view, it now hangs on the wall in our computer room, such a distinct contrast to our leaders of today who I doubt ever think to pray.

Hey Blaine, The article is a needed reminder of the importance of sharing why we celebrate the 4th July. Remember, remember. On my mom's side of the family, Wood, had the propensity to go gray at a young age. That family traits continues in siblings and myself; I started going gray while I was a 9th grade student. I do not see Washington being painted wrong, by this artistic author. Under formal settings, President Washington wore a powered white wig, as did many of his contemporaries. Maybe, during the 18th Centruy a 40 year-old men was considered old.

Thank you for the wonderful tribute to that great man.

Why does every image of Gorge Washington praying at Valley Forge portray him as an old man? He was in his mid 40s!
