Thank you for your insights ghat apply in so many ways as we interact with adult children and their children, our beloved grandchildren.I would add the granddaughter has two sets of grandparents. If the other grandparents are near, work to develop a positive, cooperative relationship with them. They can also be a source of support for the sweet child. I am so grateful for the wonderful relationship I have with the other grandparents of my grandchildren. I learn from them and rejoice my grandchildren have wonder people who love them. I gained dear friends through our shared grandchildren. It may be harder in the case of a divorce, but saying whatever disagreements may have occurred in the marriage, we can all agree it wasn't this child's fault and she needs us to work together to be loving, nurturing, protecting adults. Can we do that for her? This would be much harder in cases of abuse or infidelity, but still as important. If grandparents can find the strength to remove animosity or to model giving grace, while still supporting their child, perhaps it will be possible for that seed to grow.
