All human Mitochondria DNA in the entire world can be traced back to one women. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/neanderthals/mtdna.html Stories of the Noah and the flood and Adam and Eve have not been disproved by science. Science does not disprove religion. Science is only catching up to the truth that religion teaches.

Excellent article. I have a critique and an invitation. I believe you draw too firm a conclusion in #7 about the "giants" in the land. I'd invite you to read Nibley's book "Enoch the Prophet" and note his research on "The Watchers." I think there's much more here than meets the eye.

Great article! I grew up reading the Bible Stories of Arthur W. Spaulding. While he is not a member of the church, I have heard him quoted in General Conference in the past. In his story about Noah, he presented an idea that was new to me but which makes perfect sense. He said that prior to the flood, it had never rained so the people could not conceive of the idea of water falling from the sky. Therefore, they mocked him for building an arc so far from water. Since this was the first time that the Lord sent a rainbow, it makes sense that there had never been water in the atmosphere prior to this. See Genesis 2:5-6 and Moses 3:5-6. The mist could have been similar to an underground watering system.

Very good article. Thank you. I read a geology textbook 2 years ago which said that there is 5 times as much water in the mantle of the earth than in all the oceans on earth. If these subterreanean fountains were opened it would easily explain how th earth could be covered with water.

We're all descended from Noah? Please. The idea that all of humanity today is descended from eight survivors( all from a single family) is not only ridiculous but easily refuted. The world has too much genetic diversity. If we were all descendants of such a small group we would all look alike.

Aronofsky missed the boat on creating that crate. Wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in turbulent waters. Ark indeed!

Please check to see if Noah was perceived to be "drunk" or if he was clothed in glory while in the presence of Yaweh; Jehovah. Canaan was cursed having no right to enter and see. Also check to see if nakedness meant no outer garment, leaving his "undergarments" viewed. Thanks

Hugh Nibley and others have suggested that the "Noah was drunken" part of Genesis is a mistranslation, and that he was actually in a state of revelation and communication with the Lord. His tent was a temple-like place, and his son who barged in on him wasn't authorized to be there or to witness the heavenly communication. That's why he mocked it. The translaters at the time didn't know how to deal with what they were reading, or lacked understanding (much like Noah's son), so they took great liberties with the story and incorrectly turned Noah into a drunk.

Excellent article... it's a shame the book, Noah and the Flood, is unavailable on Kindle outside the USA
