I'm going to have to get a copy of this, I've done some pioneering research into the nature of Book of Mormon government, and almost have a manuscript ready. BOM government was based heavily on the Old Testament, and once translated into terms familiar to us, is a lot less strange than we might imagine. Checks and balances? Separation of powers? They are all there, just not in forms we are familiar with. The "Reign of the Judges" was a type of "parliamentary democracy,"and the Chief Judge could just as validly be called a "Prime Minister." Definitely not the presidential republic Joseph Smith was familiar with.

Just watched First Presidency Christmas Devotional (Dec. 8 2019) - Our Stake had a Special Stake meeting that morning with Elder Quentin L. Cook and wife Mary - listening to Pres. Dallin H. Oaks speak of "peace" and how to achieve it individually, in communities, cities, the world fits from the Book of Mormon. I post on FB passages from the BOM or quotes or articles from leaders a lot!
