Living with chaos has become a staple of present day existence, especially for those managing families. A little order amidst the confusion is always welcome relief. Julia Davis Allen has found her order and solace in the art of self-expression. Solace in creations that are fresh, current, hip and nostalgic. Very modern, yet unusually accessible. LDS Musicians Concert to be Held in Salt Lake City

At 7:00 PM on Friday, April 20, a concert of new LDS artists, with new songs is coming to the stage of Central High School (3031 S 200E, South Salt Lake City). The concert is sponsored by an internet-based cooperative of independent LDS artists named ldsmusicians.com. The Julia Davis Allen Band will be the headline performer, with many other artists sharing the stage before hand. This concert is free to the public.

“Julia is one of the most innovative, honest, and fresh voices in the scene, both as a songwriter, and as a singer.” said Mark Hansen, chair of the cooperative’s concerts committee and one of the evening’s performers, “And we’re really glad that she’ll headline the show. She’s a great performer.” Recently, Julia released her debut CD entitled, “Order in the Chaos.”

What an incredible month for weather – dazzling sun most of the time, with intermittent snow. Today is Mother’s Day here and I am sitting in my study – my mother with me while I write – and some really great Verdi opera on the player – ‘Simon Boccanegra’. What sublime voices. The room is full of sunlight from windows on three sides. We have just been for a drive because the day is too glorious to stay inside. In spite of being after March 21^st, it isn’t really spring. We have had bitter winds, feeling as if they came straight off the snow which is still glittering white on the far mountains of Sutherland to the north, and Wester Ross inland to the heart of Scotland and the west coast beyond.

But the garden is full

New sacred work by American composer Daniel E. Gawthrop to be premiered in Washington, D.C., and Fairfax, Va.

REXBURG, ID – A new sacred work written by American composer Daniel E. Gawthrop will be premiered in both Washington, D.C., and Fairfax, Va.

“The Passion and The Promise of Our Lord Jesus Christ” will feature internationally known soloists Kristine Ciesinski and Norman Bailey, along with Michael Belnap of Bloomington, Ind.

The work will premiere in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, April 5, at the National City Christian Church (Five Thomas Circle NW) at 8 p.m. and Friday, April 6, at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Va. (3500 Old Lee Highway) at 8 p.m.

Tickets are complimentary and available from the Ricks College Ticket Office at 1-800-71RICKS.

Commissioned by Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, the work will be performed by the Ricks College Collegiate Singers and Symphony Orchestra, Mormon Choir of Washington, D.C.,

Grandparents’ Legacy of Love

One summer when our children were very small, Steve said to me, “We need to take the children to Granna’s farm.” Granna was Steve’s grandmother who lived on a tiny, dusty farm in southeastern Arizona. It was an eighteen-hour drive from our home, and we could only stay for a day. I was amazed at how tiny the house was-it barely held all of us stretched out end-to-end on the floor to sleep. But when we greeted Granna and basked in her love, the long trip faded into oblivion. We splashed through “Granna’s River,” and our cares dissolved as peace washed over us with the waves. We loved it so much that we returned year after year. Even our teenage children dropped whatever they were doing to join us in the long car ride to Granna’s house.

Brigham City World Premiere Nearly Sold Out; New Movie from Director of God’s Army Premieres April 4 in Gala Benefit Celebration

Salt Lake City, UT, April 4 2001 – In a gala celebration complete with red carpet, limos and celebrities like Richard Dutcher and Karl Malone, the new film from the director of GOD’S ARMY will premiere on Wednesday, April 4 at Jordan Commons.

All proceeds from tickets sales at the premiere of BRIGHAM CITY will go directly to benefit the Utah Foster Care Foundation. Representatives of the foundation will be present at the premiere to help raise awareness of the need for more foster care families in Utah. Utah’s Lieutenant Governor Olene Walker has also been invited to attend to show the state government’s support of the Foster Care Foundation.

SALT LAKE CITY – At the Saturday afternoon session of the 171st Annual General Conference, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the callings of twelve General Authorities to serve in the First and Second Quorums of the Seventy. Those called to the First Quorum of the Seventy serve in various assignments until age 70. Those called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy serve for a period of about six years.

Members of the Seventy have responsibility for administering the work of the Church throughout the world under the direction of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Some of them also have executive responsibilities in a number of Church departments.
