A successful business “turnaround” executive, Brad Oates once had a distinguished and lengthy professional football career in the National Football League (NFL) with the St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers. This followed a successful collegiate academic and football career at Brigham Young University (“BYU”) where Brad was captain of the football team and earned All-Conference and All-American Honors. Brad augmented his off-seasons in the NFL by attending law school at BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.
In 1984, Brad “retired” from professional football and relocated to Dallas, Texas, to become involved full time in the Texas banking industry. In 1988, Brad was recruited to serve as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bluebonnet Savings Bank (“Bluebonnet”) and, later, as Vice Chairman on Bluebonnet’s Board of Directors. He currently serves as Chairman of Stone Advisors, LP, a business resolution firm specializing in resolving “troubled” business situations. Since 2003, Stone Advisors has been a resolution contractor to the FDIC. Brad is also a member of the Board of Directors at CIT Group, a publically-traded Fortune 500 commercial finance company that has been successfully turned around after a 2009 bankruptcy.
Brad is a member of the Utah State Bar.
