Nigel Palmer MD, Graduate of the University of London (Royal Free Hospital Medical School) 1970. He came to the US in 1971, met his lovely wife Donna and stayed for my lifetime!
He spent ten years on Children’s Cancer Research with St Jude’s in Memphis, the Children’s Hospitals in Denver and Seattle, ending his research career with 3 years with the National Wilms’ Tumor Study.
He returned to his first love, Emergency Medicine, retiring (sort of) after 44 years of a most rewarding career.
It was in the final few years, “slowing down” in smaller urban, then rural Emergency Departments that he found time to chat with his patients and make time to hear their sometimes incredible life stories. He hopes he will be able to share some of the most amazing of these in this series of down to earth medical articles.
I have recently retired after a 44-year career in Emergency…
