Raised by her parents and the Costa Mesa First Ward in Costa Mesa, California, Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye is a lifelong Latter-day Saint and professor at the University of Auckland. She serves on the advisory board of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship at Brigham Young University and is an associate editor of the Mormon Studies Review. She lives in Auckland, New Zealand, with her husband and four children.
